Accessibility Statement
Last updated: September 1, 2026
We want everyone to be able to use this site, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, voice control, or other assistive technology.
Our standard
This site is built and tested to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. There is no single federal regulation setting a numeric standard for private business websites, so WCAG 2.1 AA is the benchmark courts and auditors generally apply, and it is the one we hold ourselves to.
What we check on every page
- Text contrast meets or exceeds WCAG AA ratios, verified by automated measurement of every text node against its actual computed background, not estimated from the palette.
- Every image carries meaningful alternative text, or is marked decorative so screen readers skip it.
- Every form field has a visible, programmatically associated label. Placeholders are never used as labels.
- The entire site is operable with a keyboard alone, and the focused element is always visibly indicated.
- A skip link lets keyboard and screen reader users jump straight to the main content.
- Headings run in a logical order and each page has exactly one main heading.
- The page language is declared so screen readers pronounce content correctly.
- Motion is minimal, purposeful, and fully disabled when your system requests reduced motion.
- Pages reflow without horizontal scrolling down to a 320-pixel-wide screen.
- Tap targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
Known limitations
Accessibility is ongoing work, not a finished state. Automated testing catches a great deal but not everything. It cannot tell whether alternative text is useful, or whether a reading order makes sense to a person. If something on this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, that is a defect and we want to hear about it.
Tell us about a problem
Email contactus@northvawebdesigns.com or call (240) 889-7866. Tell us the page and what went wrong. We aim to respond within three business days and to fix confirmed problems promptly. If you need information from this site in another format, ask and we will provide it at no charge.
Client websites
We build every client website to this same WCAG 2.1 AA standard, and every site ships with its own accessibility statement. It is part of the build, not an add-on.
